Homework
During each week of the school year, I will be posting any homework, projects, science labs, tests, and quiz information on this tab.  To help balance out homework, students will be completing classwork for grades.  

Students will receive study guides in reading, science, and social studies to reinforce the important things that they are learning from our text as well as activities in class.  Students also provide their own reasoning on tests/quizzes to show their understanding of what they are learning.  The students create their own study guides from their notes learning how to look for things that are important.

February 9th - 13th 

Reading:
  The students will be reading their short story:  "Delivering Justice:  W.W. Law and the Fight for Civil Rights."  The students will be working on classwork assignments to allow more time to study for their vocabulary and social studies test.

Planning ahead, the reading test on information from the short story:  "Delivering Justice:  W.W. Law and the Fight for Civil Rights" will be Tuesday, February 17th.

Science:  On Tuesday, the students will receive their assignment:  Amazing Earth.  This assignment will be due on Wednesday.  

Social Studies:  The students need to study for Wednesday's Midwest Region test.  The students will need to study from their Midwest Region packet and their study guide.  If the students need digital copies of their Midwest Region packet or study guide, they are available on their S.S. Google Classroom page.

Vocabulary/Spelling:  The students need to study for Tuesday's Unit 8 Vocabulary test.

February 2nd - 6th

Reading
:  No homework:  The students will be working on two classwork grades.

Science:  On Tuesday, the students will be assigned their Tornado assignment.  This assignment will be due on Wednesday.

Social Studies:  On Monday, the students will be assigned their Groundhog Day assignment.  This assignment will be due on Tuesday.

Planning ahead:  The Midwest region test will be Wednesday, February 11th.

Spelling/Vocabulary:  Study for Tuesday's Spelling test on words with the soft c and soft g pattern.  

Due on Wednesday, complete the Unit 8 workbook pages 80-85.  One of the pages:  Match the meaning, synonyms and antonyms, completing the sentence, or the word association questions will be taken for a grade.  The rest of the pages will be corrected during class.  

Planning ahead the Unit 8 Vocabulary test will be Tuesday, February 10th.

Math (Ms. Bracamontes):  Due Tuesday:  Long division 8 problems worksheet.  

Due Wednesday:  Finish problems on Worksheet on pg. 89 (Division) if you didn't finish in class.

January 26th - 30th

On Monday, the students need to turn in their 3 things they learned from their assigned reading story on EPIC as well as the six vocabulary sentences from Unit 7.

Reading
:  On Wednesday, the students will be assigned the Scholastic assignment:  Get the GIST.  This assignment will be due on Thursday.

Science:  Study for Tuesday's science quiz on our unit:  Renewable and nonrenewable resources.  A study guide was sent home and is posted on Google Classroom.

Social Studies:  No homework:  Each class will complete an in class assignment:  Favorite Places in the Midwest.  

Spelling/Vocabulary:  No homework:  The students will complete their 3x each sheet in class.  The next spelling test on words with a soft c or soft g will be Tuesday, February 3rd.

English (Ms. Bracamontes):  Due Tuesday:  Finish and Check Textbook pg. 89 exercise 2.

Progress report sheets need to be signed and returned by Tuesday.

:  Study for Wednesday's test covering information from the short story:  "Aguinaldo.'  A study guide is posted on Google Classroom.

Science:  On Tuesday, the students will be assigned their Natural Resources and Conservation assignment.  This assignment will be due on Wednesday. Time will be given in class to work on this assignment.

Study for Friday's Renewable and Nonrenewable Resources quiz.  A study guide is posted on Google Classroom.

Social Studies:  On Tuesday, Ms. Bracamontes' students will receive their Midwest packet questions.  This assignment will be due on Wednesday.   My homeroom will receive the same assignment on Wednesday and it will be due on Thursday.  Students will be able to start their homework after completing their classwork.

Science:  Due Tuesday, complete the poster contest questions.

Social Studies:  On Monday, Ms. Bracamontes' students will receive their Honoring King assignment.  This assignment will be due on Tuesday.  My homeroom will receive the same assignment on Wednesday and it will be due on Thursday.

Vocabulary:  Due on Tuesday, complete the Unit 7 workbook pages 70-75.  One of the pages:  Match the meaning, synonyms and antonyms, completing the sentence, or the word association questions will be taken for a grade.  The rest of the pages will be corrected during class.

December 15th - 19th

Reading
:  On Monday, read over the short story:  "Ranita, the Frog Princess" pgs. 110-125 for homework.

On Monday, the students will use their book to complete the Making Connection questions and on Tuesday the students will use their textbook to answer questions from their short story.

Science:  On Monday, the students will receive their Nutrition Facts Label assignment.  This assignment will be due on Tuesday.  We will continue our health and nutrition unit this week.  

Social Studies:  The students will be working on classwork learning more about our state.

Vocabulary/Spelling:  We have reviewed in school last Thursday and Friday for the Unit 6 Vocabulary test.  Tomorrow, the students will work on the Unit 6 practice test and interactive activities on SadlierConnect.  For homework:  Study for Tuesday's Unit 6 Vocabulary test.

Reading:  On Wednesday, the students will receive the Scholastic sheet:  Problem Solved!  This assignment will be due on Thursday.

Science:  On Thursday, the students will receive the assignment:  Benefits of Regular Exercise.  This assignment will be due on Thursday.

Social Studies:  Study for Friday's Southeast States and Capitals and Abbreviations Quiz.  A study guide was sent home last week and it is posted on Google Classroom.

Spelling/Vocabulary:  Due on Tuesday, complete the Unit 6 workbook pages 58-63.  One of the pages:  Match the meaning, synonyms and antonyms, completing the sentence, or the word study questions will be taken for a grade.  The rest of the pages will be corrected during Wednesday's class.   

Study for Tuesday's Spelling test with words from the three-letter blend pattern.

Math (Ms. Bracamontes) Due Wednesday:  Red Group No Homework.  Black Group - Complete practice book pg. 53.  

Due Friday:  Finish your math work from class either Packet or 4 digit by 1.

There will be a science plate tectonics test on Friday, December 5th.

Planning ahead, the spelling test on the three-letter blend pattern will be on Tuesday, December 9th.

November 24th-28th

All record card envelopes need to be signed and returned for Monday, November 24th.  Oldest child packets also need to be returned for Monday.

The only homework for this week will be a science independent skills sheet.  This sheet will be due on Tuesday.

Planning ahead, there will be a science test on Friday, December 5th.  On Monday, we will have finished our unit on plate tectonics and we will begin reviewing when we return to school on Monday, December 1st.  A study guide will be sent home when the kids return from Thanksgiving break.

November 17th - 21st

On Tuesday, the students will complete their Unit 5 Vocabulary test.

On Thursday, the students will have their reading test on information from the short story:  "Spiders."

  A paper study guide was sent home last Friday and posted to Google Classroom for this Thursday's reading test.  Students will also need to reread the "Spiders" short story as they study for their test.

Science:
  On Tuesday, the students will receive their homework assignment:  The Hiking Trip.  This assignment is due on Wednesday.

Social Studies:  On Monday, Ms. Bracamontes' students will receive their Southeast U.S. - Labeling States and Capitals assignment.  This assignment will be due on Tuesday. 

My homeroom will receive the same assignment on Wednesday and it will be due on Thursday.

Spelling/Vocabulary:  Study for Tuesday's Unit 5 Vocabulary test.

On Tuesday, Tuesday, November 11th, there will be a spelling test on the prefix spelling pattern.  

Reading
:  On Tuesday, the students will be assigned their Veteran's Day assignment.  This assignment will be due on Wednesday.

Planning ahead, there will be a reading test on information from the short story:  "Spiders" on Thursday, November 20th.  A study guide will be sent home this Friday.

Science:  The students will not have any science homework, but will be completing work in class.  We will begin a new unit on plate tectonics and learn how they can trigger earthquakes.

Social Studies:  The students worked on their note cards for their Campaign Speech Running for 4th Grade President.  A rubric for the presentations has been posted on PowerSchool.  The students will finish their presentations this week.

Due Thursday, complete the S.S. Journal entry about travelling to a specific place in our country.

Vocabulary/Spelling:  Due on Tuesday, complete the Unit 5 workbook pages 48-53.  One of the pages:  Match the meaning, synonyms and antonyms, completing the sentence, or the word association questions will be taken for a grade.  The rest of the pages will be corrected during Tuesday's class.

This week, the students will have a science test on Tuesday, November 4th on the Rock Pattern Unit.  A study guide was sent home on Wednesday, October 29th.  Ms. Bracamontes will also be giving a math test on Thursday, November 6th.

Planning ahead, the spelling test with words containing the prefix pattern will be on Tuesday, November 11th.

:  On Wednesday, the students will receive their Scholastic assignment:  A Yurok Tradition.  This assignment will be due on Thursday.

Science:  Study for Tuesday's Rock Pattern test.  Leading up to your test, review the study guide that was sent home.  A copy of the study guide is also available on Google Classroom.

Social Studies:  The students have been working on their note cards for their Campaign Speech Running for 4th Grade President.  A rubric for the presentations will be sent home on Monday for both classes.  Presentations start on Tuesday for volunteers in Ms. Bracamontes' class.  Presentations begin on Thursday for my homeroom.

Vocabulary/Spelling:  On Tuesday, the students will receive their 3x each sheet for their spelling words.  This assignment will be due on Wednesday.  Study for the spelling test on Tuesday, November 11th with the words containing the prefix pattern.

Math:  There is no homework, but Ms. Bracamontes passed out their study guide for Thursday's Unit 3 test on Thursday.

This week, the students will be taking their reading test - "Kids in Business" on Tuesday and their English test (Sections 1.6, 1.7, 1.10, and 1.11) on Thursday. There will be less homework scheduled this week to help give the students time to study.  The students are currently working on two in school projects in social studies and vocabulary.

Reading
:  Study for Tuesday's "Kid's in Business" test.  A study guide was sent home last Thursday and a copy is posted on Google Classroom.

Science:  On Monday, the students will receive their Rock Patterns concept skills sheet.  This sheet is due on Tuesday.  

On Wednesday, the students will receive their Rock Patterns study guide.  Planning ahead, the Rock Patterns science test will be Tuesday, November 4th.  

Social Studies:  The students are currently working project:  "Writing/Presenting a Campaign Speech Running for 4th Grade President."  There is no homework this week.  On Monday, the students will finish their campaign speech organizer and work on their note cards this week.

Spelling/Vocabulary:  The students will be working on a Unit 4 Vocabulary Project instead of having a Unit 4 Vocabulary test.  The Unit 4 Vocabulary Project will be due on Friday.

  On Monday, the students will receive their assignment:  The Changing Surface of Earth.  This assignment will be due on Tuesday.

Social Studies:  There will be no homework this week.  The students will begin a project:  Writing/Presenting a Campaign Speech Running for 4th Grade President.

Spelling/Vocabulary:  On Monday, the students will receive their new spelling words with the pattern on digraphs.  The 3x each sheet will be due on Tuesday.  The Spelling test on the digraph pattern will be Friday, October 24th.

Reading
:  Study for Tuesday's test on information from the short story:  "Experts, Incorporated."  A paper copy of the study guide has been sent home and an electronic copy is on Google Classroom.

Science:  The students are currently working on their Sense Receptors project in school.  Each group has a sheet to write information down and a rubric for their skits.  The skits will begin Tuesday or Wednesday.  Any remaining skits will take place next week.

Social Studies:  On Monday, Ms. Bracamontes' class will receive their Lost on Ellis Island assignment.  This assignment will be due on Tuesday.  My homeroom will receive the same assignment on Wednesday and their homework will be due on Thursday.

Planning ahead, the Northeast states and capitals and Northeast states abbreviations will be Friday, October 17th.

Science:  On Tuesday, the students will be taking their Plant and Animal Parts Science test. 

A copy of the study guide was sent home last Wednesday and a copy is also posted on Google Classroom.

Social Studies:  On Monday, Ms. Bracamontes' students will receive their Make Your Own Political Sign assignment.  This assignment will be due on Tuesday.  My homeroom will receive the same assignment on Wednesday, and their assignment will be due on Thursday.

No School - Monday, September 1st.  I hope everyone has a nice Labor Day.

Reading:  On Tuesday, the students will receive the assignment:  Labor Day - Balancing Work and Play.  This assignment will be due on Wednesday.  

Planning ahead, on Thursday, September 11th, there will be a reading test on the information from the short story:  "Earthquakes."  The study guide will include what the students are learning during class and will also have the students think and reflect.  

Science:  On Thursday, the students will be receiving their Plant and Animal Parts skills sheet.  This assignment will be due on Friday.

Social Studies:  No homework.  Each class will be completing a classwork assignment this week.

Spelling/Vocabulary:  Due on Wednesday, complete your Unit 1 Workbook pgs. 8-13.  One of the pages:  Match the meaning, synonyms and antonyms, completing the sentence, or the word association will be taken for a grade.  The rest of the pages will be corrected during Thursday's class. 

Study for Friday's Unit 1 Vocabulary test.  There will be 25 questions and each question will be worth 4 points a piece.  There will be 1 extra credit question worth 4 points a piece.  The test will be on match the meaning, synonyms, antonyms, completing the sentence, and the word association questions.

Picture Day forms went home last Thursday.  Picture Day will be Tuesday, September 16th.

August 25th-29th

Reading:  On Wednesday, the students will receive their sentence skills sheet to go along with their reading series.  This sheet is due on Thursday.

Science:  On Thursday, the students will be receiving their Putting the Pieces Together:  Plants homework.  This assignment will be due on Friday.

Social Studies:  Ms. Bracamontes' students will receive their My Duties as President assignment on Monday and it will be due on Tuesday.  My homeroom will receive the same assignment on Wednesday and it will be due on Thursday.

Spelling/Vocabulary:  Study for Thursday's spelling test.

August 20th - 22nd

In reading, we will be reading the "Marshmallow Jungle" story and working on activities in school.  No homework

In science, we will begin working on the STEM science lab building the tallest structure.  No homework

In social studies, the branches of government packet will be passed out to the students.  Work on coloring the cover page and previewing information.  No homework

In vocabulary/spelling, we will go over the new spelling words.  A paper copy of the weekly words is given during class and the words can also be found on Spelling/Vocabulary Units weblog tab.  The Spelling words are also added to the Vocabulary/Spelling Google Classroom page that will be set up during the 1st week of school. 

On Thursday, class time will be given to work on the 3x each sheet for the current spelling words.  For homework:  If needed, finish the 3x each sheet that is due on Friday.
