Folders
Students will bring home a folder every night. Please check the folder for any
important notes. Occasionally on Thursdays students will bring home a white
envelope. This is information or forms from the school. Please go through the
envelope and send it back to school the following day. Please feel free to send any
notes for me back to school in the folder as well. In the coming weeks students will
also bring home small decodable books. These are yours to keep at home, though we
ask that you please read through them with your child for additional practice.
Homework
In the coming months, students will receive homework. Homework will typically be
sent home on Monday to be returned by Friday. Every month a new set of sight
words will also be sent home. Please practice these words at home. Recognition of
these words is an important step in learning to read. It is also important that you
spend time reading with your child everyday. Listening to reading and/or having
them help you read are great ways to support your child as they begin to read themselves.
Snack and Lunch
Please send your child to school with a healthy snack everyday. Please avoid sending
candy as a snack. Please make sure their snack is separate from their lunch to
avoid any confusion. Students should also pack a lunch everyday. Starting in the
next month or so students will be able to order hot lunch. Hot lunch is only
available on Wednesdays. Using the Myhotlunchbox app or website parents can
order lunch from the available options for that week. Orders must be placed by Monday at noon to be ready for Wednesday.
Star Student
Each week a student will be chosen as the star student. Students will bring home a
special poster they can decorate and bring back to share with the class. Students
are also welcome to bring in a small toy or favorite item as well as pictures. They
will have the opportunity to share their poster and items with the class. The star
student will also receive a book made by their classmates at the end of their special week!
Birthdays
Celebrating birthdays is always an exciting part of kindergarten! Students are
welcome to bring in treats to share with the class. This is not required, and treats
must be individually packaged. Any treats will be passed out and sent home at the
end of the day after our class celebration.
Scholastic Book Orders
Every month students will bring home a book order form. Students are not
required to order books, but book orders are a great way to keep reading exciting
as well as adding to your home library. Ordering books can also help us to earn
books for our classroom library. Our class code for ordering is 32W77B.
