6th Grade Science Research Project


You will be using a separate folder for all materials with your science research project.


On Tuesday, April 2nd - Friday, April 5th - Presentations for the research project.

On 
Monday, April 1st the science research paper were turned in. 

Inventions were also turned in for April 2nd.


On Friday, March 29th, we reviewed the science research paper's rubric and the students had an opportunity to answer any questions that they had.  

Oral presentation dates were also given to the students.

On Thursday, March 28th, the students received some class time to work on their research project.

The science research paper and oral presentation rubrics were signed and brought back to school for Wednesday, March 27th. A copy of each is also available on my weblog.

On Tuesday, March 26th the students received time to work on their research paper.  

On Friday, March 22nd, the students received time to edit their science research project.

On Friday, March 15th, the students received time to work on their conclusion and bibliography for their research project. Both the conclusion and bibliography will be due on Friday, March 22nd.

On Monday, March 4th and Tuesday, 5th, the students received time to work on their procedure and diagram.  The procedure and diagram were turned in on Wednesday, March 6th.

On Friday, March 1st, the students received time in class to work on their procedure and diagram.

On Wednesday, February 27th, the students received the guidelines for the procedure and diagram of their invention.  Both the procedure and drawing will be due on Wednesday, March 6th.  

On Tuesday, February 12th, the students received time to work on gathering facts for their research projects.  Packets will be turned in on Tuesday, February 19th.  I will review the student's research.

On Friday, February 8th, the students used the Chromebooks to look up information for their research project. 

On Thursday, February 7th, the students turned in their interview source.  Students also had time to use the Chromebooks to work on their research project.

On Tuesday, February 5th, the students used the Chromebooks to gather more facts for the research part of their science projects.

On Friday, February 1st, an interview information/direction sheet was passed out during class.  The information for the interview is due on Thursday, February 7th.

On Monday, January 28th, Chromebooks were used to look up research facts.

On Friday, January 25th, we went over any questions relating to the research project during our class.

During class, on 
Wednesday, January 23rd, Chromebooks were used to look up an invention for their project.  Time is also given to look up and find facts for your research.

On Tuesday, January 22nd, three forms will be passed out:  

1. Science project information sheet  
2. Sheet naming the invention that you will be making, researching, and writing about
3. Sheet for recording research for your paper

The information sheet and sheet naming the invention that you will be making, researching, and writing about require a parent signature by Friday, January 25th.  


During class on Friday, January 18th, Chromebooks were used and time was given for your Science Research Project Organization sheet.  I met with each person or group and discussed ideas for your invention that you would be making.

On Tuesday, January 15th, you will receive a form stating if you will be working independently or with a partner for your science research project.  This form will require a parent signature and is due on Thursday, January 17th.  You will be using the scientific method for your paper, while making an invention, researching and writing about the invention as well as presenting it to the class.

From Friday, January 11th to Tuesday, January 15th, you received a sample packet with background information for a science report.
