Visitation: will be held at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church–(Handicap parking available in lot North of the church, entrance on Kedvale)

Funeral Mass: Saturday 11:00 am
Interment: St. Mary Cemetery

Reverend William J. Lion, Pastor Emeritus of St Catherine of Alexandria Church. Ordained April 12, 1958. Beloved son of the late William and Sylvia Lion. Beloved brother of the late Ruth Lion. Dear uncle of Cheryl (Michael) Ballenger, Cynthia (Robert) Williamson, Jacob D. Turban and Beth Turban. Grand-uncle of Matthew (Kristin) and Alyx Ballenger & Lauren and Tara Simonis.
Fr Lion served as former Pastor of St. Athanasius Parish in Evanston. He served from 1973-1982 as Executive Director of the Illinois Catholic Conference and as Co-Chancellor for human relations and ecumenism. He was elected President of the National Association of State Catholic Conference Directors. Fr Lion served on the boards of the Chicago Conference on Religion and Race, the Metropolitan Housing & Planning Council and the Leadership Council for Metropolitan Open Communities as well as a member of the Fair Housing Committee in Oak Lawn. He was the Associate State Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus, Director of the Vatican Art Council of Chicago and served on the board of Villa Scalabrini.
